Fed: WA winter bounces back but Qld hit hard

A new crop report has found West Australian wheat farmers will be rescued from another
poor season but their Queensland counterparts face disaster.

The Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics says that after suffering
a major drought last season that knocked down WA's wheat crop by a third, late rains appear
set to boost production by 13 per cent this year.

But after a poor season and late rain Queensland wheat farmers are facing a 42 per
cent drop in production this season.
