Vic: Security guard injured, protester arrested in blockade
A security guard has been injured and a protester arrested during a demonstration insidethe offices of the Victorian Environment Minister.
Anti-woodchip protesters used a new model Volkswagen Beetle to blockade the officesof SHERRYL GARBUTT for more than an hour in a bid to force a meeting with the minister.
Members of six environment groups drove the car into the foyer of the building in EastMelbourne where one of the protesters, ALAN GRAY, chained himself inside the car.
Mr GRAY said he was prepared to remain in the car until Ms GARBUTT accepted the group'sproposal for forest protection in Victoria.
The protesters removed the car just after midday at the request of police, withoutmeeting any members of Ms GARBUTT's office.
Mr GRAY is now being interviewed by police.
